Announce
Launching Soraj Power Plant in 2017

Mr. Fahad H. Al Mohannadi, General Manager and
Managing Director of QEWC and Chairman of
Nebras Power, revealed that the Qatar
Electricity & Water, and Qatar Petroleum
will work to launch a new company "Soraj
Power" in Qatar during the current year
2017. He
pointed out that they will begin immediately
in implementing the first solar energy
project in the country. In an interview with
Al
Eqtisadiah daily newspaper he pointed out that the launch
of this new company keeps up with the
state's plans to produce 500 megawatts of
solar energy by 2020.
Mr. Fahad Al Mohannadi also stated that QEWC
is looking forward to the actual operation
of Umm Al Houl power plant where the
percentage of its achievement exceeding 66%
presently. He noted that most of this power
plant will be operating in 2017 raising the
capacity of producing electricity and water
in Qatar
as the plant will be able to supply up to
2.52GW of electricity and 590,000m³ (136
million gallons) of drinking water a day to
2.5m homes in the area.
