Doha Bank Enters In Agreement with Bank of
Ceylon for Remittance to Sri Lanka

Doha Bank entered into an agreement
with Bank of Ceylon, the largest bank in Sri Lanka, for
remittance of funds from Qatar to Sri Lanka.
The signing ceremony held during the
event ‘Qatar – Sri Lanka: bilateral opportunities’ held at Doha
Bank Head Office Tower at West Bay. The agreement was signed by
Dr. R. Seetharaman, Chief Executive Officer, Doha Bank and Mr.
DPK Gunasekara, Deputy General Manager – Treasury &
International, Bank of Ceylon.
Bank of Ceylon is one of the largest
commercial banks in Sri Lanka, has the largest network of
branches, over 627 spread all over the island nation, and has
the ability to transfer the funds quickly and serve the
customers efficiently.
Doha Bank’s customers will be able to
transfer money online from Doha Bank Account to their account
with any Bank of Ceylon branch in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan
customers in Doha will also be able to remit funds to
beneficiaries having accounts with any other bank in Sri Lanka.
The beneficiaries can collect cash from any branch of Bank of
Ceylon.

in Qatar by meeting their banking and remittance requirements.
The customers will be able to access their funds instantly. We

Mr. Ronald C. Perera, The Chairman
and Mr. Senarath Bandara, Chief Executive officer of Bank of
Ceylon were present on this occasion.
Commenting on the partnership, Mr.
DPK Gunasekara, Deputy General Manager, Treasury &
International, Bank of Ceylon said: “This association with Doha
Bank is a commitment of the bank towards providing cost
effective services to Sri Lankan nationals who live and work in
Qatar. The arrangement will enable us to provide our customers
convenient and secure services by expanding our remittance
network from Qatar to Sri Lanka.”
Mr. Braik Ali H. S. Al-Marri, Acting
Chief Retail Banking Officer, Doha Bank, highlighted that this
arrangement is very convenient and cost effective for Sri Lankan
nationals to remit their funds to their home country. It offers
online transfer of money in Sri Lankan Rupees from Qatar to Sri
Lanka. Doha Bank has placed an exclusive Relationship Manager
for Sri Lankan customers at International Relations Centre (IRC)
D Ring Road Branch to serve Doha Bank Sri Lankan customers for
banking needs in Qatar and back home.
