Qatar Foreign Merchandise Trade Surplus Amounted to QR 13.6 Billion in May, 2019

In May 2019, the foreign merchandise trade balance showed a surplus of QR 13.6 billion, i.e. a decrease of about QR 1.3 billion or 8.9% compared to May 2018, but increased by nearly QR 0.5 billion or 3.5% compared to April 2019.

The data of the Planning and Statistics Authority showed that the total exports of goods (including exports of goods of domestic origin and re-exports) amounted to around QR 22.8 billion, showing a decrease of 8.4% compared to May 2018, and increased of 2.9% compared to April 2019. On another hand, imports of goods in May 2019 amounted to around QR 9.2 billion, showing a decrease of 7.6% over May 2018. However, on a month on month basis the imports increase by 2.1%.
