Qatar Central Bank Issues QAR 600 Million Treasury Bills in January 2020

In line with its efforts to develop and enhance the monetary policy in the State of Qatar, and part of its contribution to the solidity of the banking and financial system in the State, Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has issued today 07 January 2020 treasury bills for terms of three, six and nine months. This step also aims at activating the open market instruments as one of the monetary policy tools and for the implementation of the coordination mechanism between the fiscal and monetary policies. Total value of the Issue amounted QAR 600 million distributed as follows:

-          QAR 300 million, 3-month Bills at a discount rate of 1.53%

-          QAR 200 million, 6 months Bills at a discount rate of 1.56%

-          QAR 100 million, 9 months Bills at a discount rate of 1.53%

The Issue comes among the series of Issues conducted by the Qatar Central Bank on behalf of the State of Qatar and in accordance with the prior-prepared time schedule by Qatar Central Bank and in Coordination with the Ministry of Finance.

Qatari Treasury Bills are normally offered through an auction in favor of the banks operating in the State of Qatar.
