Qatar Stock Exchange Kicks off its Financial Education Competition for the Second Year

The Qatar Stock Exchange launched, yesterday, its second annual competition for financial education for the year 2020. The final ceremony of this competition will be held and awards will be presented on 17 March 2020. QSE is proud, honored and privileged to announce the registration of 8 teams of male and female students from 7 university colleges, arranged, according to the registration dates, as follows:

·        College of Management and Economics (Males) - Qatar University

·        Georgetown University Qatar

·        College of Islamic Studies - Hamad Bin Khaleefa University

·         University of Stendon -Qatar

·        Community College – Qatar

·        AFG College with the University of Aberdeen

·        Carnegie Mellon University –Qatar

·        College of Management and Economics (Girls) - Qatar University

The Organizing of this competition by the Qatar Stock Exchange in its second edition this year comes within the framework of its efforts to contribute in building a strong national economy based on knowledge and economic sustainability, and in commitment with the mission of the Stock Exchange as one of the leading institutions in Qatar to accomplish the vision of our beloved country in the economic arena by raising financial and investment awareness for the future generations.

It is noteworthy that Qatar Stock Exchange calls upon students annually to take part in the competition with scientific research on a topic of its selection. Then, it calls upon students to present the findings and outcomes of their research before an independent panel committee composing of a distinguished group of referees with immense experience in finance and economics. The theme for this year is "The Importance of Financial Analysis in Stock Valuation".

 

The Stock Exchange has signed this year a sponsorship agreement with the Qatar Financial Center (QFC) to become the sole partner for the 2020 competition. Sarah Al-dorani, Head of Marketing and Communications at Qatar Financial Center, stated, “The Initiatives of Qatar Financial Centre towards the financial education and the empowerment of youth mirror our commitment to invest in Qatar’s youth and promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) for distinguished and high quality education. Thus, Qatar Financial Education Competition aligns with this commitment, and we are honored to partner with Qatar Stock Exchange in bestowing this event”.

On this occasion, Hussein Al-Abdullah, Director of Marketing and Communications Department at QSE stated, "Qatar Stock Exchange is pleased and proud to join Qatar Financial Centre in this edition of the competition, where the Centre represents a significant addition through its strong platform and diversified experiences that provide opportunities to expand knowledge and investments to and from the Middle East ".

 

Additionally, the Stock Exchange is pleased to announce that "Aamal Company" has been selected to be the subject matter of research and analysis, because its website encompasses adequate and abundant information, particularly that information with respect to the Investor Relations Department, and it provides information that investors and financial analysts reasonably need.

 

In conclusion, Qatar Stock Exchange is pleased and privileged to have Qatar National Bank joining as a diamond sponsor, Doha Bank as a sponsor of the awards distribution ceremony, and the Group Securities as a gold sponsor for this edition of the competition.
