Vodafone Qatar Launches Advanced Voice Calling Service
over LTE Technology
08 April 2020
Vodafone Qatar has launched the latest generation of its wireless voice
call service ‘Voice over Long-Term Evolution’, VoLTE which enables
high-definition voice clarity on Vodafone GigaNet cellular network and
simultaneous use of voice and data.
The new Voice over LTE service will allow subscribers to seamlessly use
4G data for internet browsing and using the internet based apps without
interruption even while making voice call. Users will also be able to
enjoy a high voice quality compared to the voice quality of the 3G in
addition to faster connection of calls. The company stated that Handsets
that support video calls will be able to use VoLTE video calls.
Mr. Dieogo Camberos, Chief Operating Officer of Vodafone Qatar said
“This could be the best time to introduce VoLTE as yet another addition
to our world-class GigaNet network. We are all social distancing
responsibly and having to rely on technology to multitask and keep our
busy lives on track, reaching out to friends and colleagues, even while
we shop, order food or send messages. VoLTE is a major step towards
enhancing customers’ calling experience, with the ability to use voice
and data at the same time, HD quality voice calls, and faster call
set-up.”
VoLTE service is an optimized mobile technology that allows cellular
voice calls over a 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network and fully
integrates voice and data for a better experience. Beginning with
increased service quality, Vodafone Qatar’s customers can look forward
to even more innovations from VoLTE capabilities in the near future.
Vodafone customers with a VoLTE-compatible handset can enable the
service through their smartphone settings, if it is not automatically
enabled. Vodafone is working closely with its smartphone partners to
enable VoLTE on an even wider range of smartphone models. VoLTE is
charged in the same way as all other voice calls.
