‘Nakilat’ Receives the New LNG Container Vessel ‘Global Energy’

Qatar Gas Transport Company ‘Nakilat’
received yesterday the newly built LNG container vessel “Global Energy”.
The container is considered the first of the four new LNG carriers to be
built and delivered to Nakilat by end of 2021 within the agreement of
the joint venture “Global Shipping Ltd” owned by Nakilat (60%) and the
Greece Company “Maran Venture Inc.” (40%). By operating the four
projected LNG container vessels, Nakilat fleet of vessels will reach 74
container vessels shaping 11.9% of the global capacity of LNG containing
and transporting. Nakilat further aspires to increase its market share
of this global industry in the future.
Eng. Abdullah Al Sulaiti, CEO of Nakilat
said “we strive through operating of this new vessel to reinforce our
global position in the transport of clean energy which witnesses a
global demand and that will be positively reflected in the prices of
vessels chartering business. Nakilat today operates and markets the
added vessels to the company’s fleet which signalizes Nakilat’s
efficient operational and marketing capabilities as well as the
company’s solid financial position and the strategic plans in place to
acquire new opportunities for the sustainability of the business growth
and added value to shareholders’ investments. This will also have its
positive impact on the company’s contribution to Qatar’s position in the
global market of LNG transport.
Al Sulaiti added “the energy sector
witnesses a shift in terms of vessels building technology and
management, an issue that has been taken into consideration while
building ‘global energy’ and the other under-building three vessels in
South Korea. The vessels carrying capacity reaches 173,400 cubic meters
each and
equipped with
the most advanced technology in the industry as two of the vessels being
equipped with ME-GI with the other two equipped with X-DF propulsion
technologies. These vessels also feature most modern structural motor
design employing other most advanced technologies".
