Qatar Gas Transport Co. ‘Nakilat’ Takes Over the Management of the LNG
Tanker ‘Al-Kharaitiyat’.

Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat)
announced that it has assumed the management and full technical
operations of the LNG tanker ‘Al-Kharaitiyat’, ‘KEFlex’ type, from Shell
International Trade and Shipping Company ‘Shell’. The process, started
27 May 2020, is considered part of the second phase of transferring the
technical and operational management of carrier vessels to be managed
internally.
Al-Kharaitiyat tanker, with a capacity of
216,300 cubic meters, is wholly owned by Nakilat and chartered by Qatar
Gas. The ship was built in South Korea by Hyundai Heavy Industries
Company and was delivered to Nakilat in June 2009 and has been in
service since then.
Al-Kharaitiyat is considered the second
tanker vessel included in the second phase of transferring the technical
and operational management of ships from Shell to Qatar Gas Transport
Company Ltd this year, bringing the total number of ships internally
managed by ‘Nakilat’ to 20, consisting of 16 Liquefied Natural Gas ‘LNB’
carriers and 4 Liquefied Petroleum Gas ‘LPG’ carriers.
