Qatar Gas Transport Co. ‘Nakilat’ Takes Over the Management of
LNG Tanker ‘BU SAMRA’.

Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat)
announced that it has taken over the management and full technical
operations of the LNG tanker ‘BU SAMRA’, ‘Q-Max’ type, from Shell
International Trade and Shipping Company ‘Shell’. The taking over
process, started today 08 July 2020, is considered part of the second
phase of transferring the technical and operational management of
carrier vessels to be internally managed.
BU SAMRA tanker, with a capacity of 266,000
cubic meters, is wholly owned by Nakilat and chartered by Qatar Gas. The
ship was built in South Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries Company in
2008 and has been in service since then.
The tanker is counted the third of its type
included in second phase of transferring the technical and operational
management of oil carrier ships from Shell to Qatar Gas Transport
Company Ltd this year, bringing the total number of ships internally
managed by ‘Nakilat’ to 22, comprising 18 Liquefied Natural Gas ‘LNB’
carriers and 4 Liquefied Petroleum Gas ‘LPG’ carriers.
