In partnership with Qatar Rail, Vodafone Qatar has launched the wifi service in all Doha Metro lines red, green and gold covering stations and on boards.
The newly launched service provided to all passengers is fully managed by Vodafone, and considered one of the unique projects that offers smooth access to the internet during the commute of the passengers and covers all facilities of the metro above and underground. It covers 37 stations in addition to the three lines of the metro to give passengers uninterrupted access to the internet.
His Excellency, Eng. Abdulla Al Subaie, Managing Director and CEO in Qatar Rail said, “We are pleased to have Vodafone joining us as a strategic partner and official wifi provider for the Doha metro network. The service, which will be reachable in the stations and on board, will enhance the usage of the metro service as a major means of transportation. We are confident that Vodafone extensive experience in this connection will play a major role in supplying integrated high quality service that meets the clients’ expectations”.
On his part, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Qatar, HE Sheikh Hamad Abdulla Al Thani said, "The Doha Metro is one of the most important public facilities in the country, providing an affordable, fast and convenient means of transportation to thousands of residents daily. Vodafone Qatar is committed to supply the best telecom service to the rail customers during their commute, and with our world-class network, metro patrons will be able to experience our reliable internet connection during their commute."
Every passenger using the metro will be eligible to register in the service, regardless of the telecom operator he uses while roaming in Qatar. Upon registration, they will immediately have access to 30-minutes of free internet access daily, valid for use throughout the day of activation. Users can also choose to purchase one of several premium plans for their day, week- or month-long internet consumption.
