Qatar Gas Transport Co 'Nakilat' Takes Over the Management of the LNG Vessel 'Al Rekayyat'

Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) announced that it has embraced the management and the full technical operations of the LNG vessel ‘Al Rekayyat’, ‘Q-Flex’ type, from Shell International Trade and Shipping Company ‘Shell’. The process, started yesterday, Sunday 20 September 2020, is considered part of the second phase of transforming the technical and operational management of carrier vessels to be managed locally.

Al Rekayyat, a tanker with the capacity to carry up-to 216,300 cubic meter of LNG is fully owned by ‘Nakilat’ and is chartered to Qatar Gas Company. The ship was built in South Korea by Hyundai Heavy Industries Company Ltd, delivered to Nakilat in June 2009, and has been in service ever since.

Al Rekayyat is considered the sixth tanker vessel included in the second phase of transforming the technical and operational management of ships agreement from Shell to Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd this year. With Al Rekayyat, the total number of ships domestically managed by ‘Nakilat’ is now brought to 25, consisting of 21 Liquefied Natural Gas ‘LNG’ carriers and 4 Liquefied Petroleum Gas ‘LPG’ carriers.
