Qatar Trade Balance Registers QAR 6.9 Billion Surplus in August 2020

Qatari Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) has issued its preliminary report on the external trade for the month of August 2020. The report included data on exports (of local origin and re-export) and imports.  Below is a summary data as published in the PSA report:

Total Qatari exports (including exports of local origin and re-export) during August 2020 amounted nearly QAR 14.0 billion, a decline of 33.8% compared to August 2019 figures, and an increase by 3..% compared to July 2020 figures.

On the other side, the value of commodities imports during August 2020 was reduced by 21.6% to QAR 7.1 billion compared to August 2019, and was also decreased by 3.0% over the preceding month July 2020.

In light of the above, the commodities trade balance, which represents the difference between total exports and total imports during August 2020, has achieved a surplus of QAR 6.9 billion, recording a decrease by 42.9% (QAR 5.2 billion) compared to the parallel month last year 2019, and also an increase by 10.7% (QAR 0.7 billion) against the preceding month July 2020.
