Qatar Central Bank issues treasury bills amounting to 600 million riyals for January 2021

Within the framework of the Qatar Central Bank’s endeavor to develop monetary policy in the State of Qatar, increase its effectiveness, contribute to the robustness of the banking and financial system, activate open market tools as one of the monetary policy tools, and in implementation of the coordination mechanism between fiscal and monetary policies, Qatar Central Bank issued on Tuesday, January 05, 2021 Treasury Bills for three, six and nine months, considering that the value of issuances amounted to about 600 million Qatari riyals, distributed as follows:
- 300 million riyals for three months at an interest rate of 0.07%
- 200 million riyals for six months at an interest rate of 0.12%
- 100 million riyals for nine months, at an interest rate of 0.14%
This issuance comes within a series of issues that the bank undertakes on behalf of the government of the State of Qatar and according to the schedule prepared in advance by the Qatar Central Bank and in coordination with the Ministry of Finance.
Treasury bills are offered by auction in favor of banks operating in the State of Qatar.
