QIB and Qatar Post sign an agreement to integrate the service of delivery and payment through POS terminals

Qatar Islamic Bank has announced the launch of the integration service of dispatch delivery and payment through Point of Sale (PoS) terminals for the first time in Qatar, in cooperation with Q-pay, the leading Qatari company in the field of financial technology that provides a wide range of electronic payment solutions and the use of modern point of sale terminals.
The new service provides customers with the option of electronic payment of fees for receiving parcels and postal dispatches, thus obtaining a comfortable and safe experience for all Qatar Post customers. The smart point of sale devices allow delivery personnel at Qatar Post to know all the information related to the customer, including the value of the fees for receiving the consignment, by scanning the code for each shipment through the point of sale terminals linked to the data system of Qatar Post. The new service also allows customers to make the payment process on the same device using contactless payment cards.
Commenting on the launch of the new service, Mr. Tarek Fawzi, General Manager of the Corporate Banking Services Group at QIB, said: “The launch of this service in cooperation with Qatar Post is an important agreement and we are proud of it because it will have a positive impact on the level of granting the possibility to complete easy and effective transactions for one of the largest customer bases in Qatar, enabling them to benefit from electronic payment solutions, digitizing bills and using point-of-sale devices that allow payment by scanning options provide immediate solutions that suit Qatar Post requirements, providing speed and security to customers. And I am sure that this will be the beginning of the launch of other solutions in the future, in cooperation with government agencies and the private sector, and this is consistent with the state’s endeavors to digitize services and build an economy that relies primarily on electronic payment.
For his part, Mr. Hamad Al-Fahidah, Chief Operating Officer at Qatar Post said: “We have a large number of deliveries that we do locally with the option of cash on delivery. Before launching this new service from QPay, we were at Qatar Post obligated to accept cash payments from Customers before delivering the consignments or parcels to them, and this process was a reason for prolonging the period of clearance of consignments with the launch of the new solution in cooperation with the bank and QPay. We are happy to give our customers more ease in paying their mailing fees using credit or debit cards, while providing the option to pay without Touch, thus enhancing the safety and security factor, especially during the current circumstances associated with the spread of the pandemic. We are also looking to change customer behavior from using paper money to paying by card, thus not needing to devote more time and effort to clearing cash transactions, and benefit from error-free digital transactions through the system digital invoices for the delivery services that we provide. And by this we will be active in achieving one of the aspects of Qatar National Vision 2030, and its endeavors to reach a digital society”.

We have digitized the delivery of postal mail and provide safe experiences during cash-on-receipt payments using Visa, MasterCard, and AMEX cards.
