24.5billion riyals surplus in the trade balance of the State of Qatar in November 2021, an increase of 170.6% on an annual basis

The Planning and Statistics Authority issued its preliminary report on foreign trade statistics for the month of November 2021. The report includes data on exports (of local origin and re-exports) and imports. The following is a brief presentation of the data:
During November 2021, the total value of Qatari exports (which includes exports of local origin and re-exports) amounted to approximately 34.3 billion Qatari riyals, an increase of 106.6% compared to November 2020, and an increase of 13.9% compared to October 2021.
On the other hand, the value of merchandise imports increased during November 2021, reaching about 9.8 billion Qatari riyals, an increase of 29.6% compared to November 2020, and an increase of 9.6% compared to October 2021.
In light of this, the merchandise trade balance, which represents the difference between total exports and imports during November 2021, achieved a surplus of 24.5 billion Qatari riyals, registering an increase of 15.5 billion Qatari riyals, or 170.6% compared to the same month of the previous year 2020, and an increase of 3.3 billion Qatari riyals, or 15.8%, compared to October 2021.
Comparing between November 2021 and November 2020, the value of exports of “oil gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons”, which represent (liquefied natural gas, condensate, propane, butane, etc..) increased by 22.4 billion or 135%. Oil and oils of bituminous mineral raw materials” also increased to reach approximately QR 4.1 billion, or 62.4%, and the value of exports of “petroleum oils and oils obtained from non-crude bituminous minerals” increased to about QR 2.9 billion, or 107.8%
In terms of exports according to the main destination countries, China ranked first in the countries of destination for Qatar’s exports during November 2021 with a value of approximately QR 5.1 billion, or 14.8 per cent of the total value of Qatari exports, followed by Japan with a value of QR 4.5 billion Approximately 13.1% of the total value of exports, followed by South Korea with a value of approximately 3.6 billion Qatari riyals, or 10.4%.
In a comparison between November 2021 and November 2020, the group "jet turbines, propelling turbines, other gas turbines and their parts" came at the top of the list of merchandise imports, with a value of 0.4 billion Qatari riyals, a decrease of 1.9%, followed by the group of "electrical devices for telephone (telephone) or Wired (telegraph) telegraph, including network carriers, and its parts” with a value of 0.33 billion Qatari riyals, an increase of 13.0%, and the group of “cars and other motor vehicles designed primarily for transporting people” with a value of approximately 0.30 billion Qatari riyals, a decrease of 1.4%.
In terms of imports according to the main countries of origin, China ranked first in the countries of origin for the imports of the State of Qatar during the month of November 2021 with a value of approximately 1.8 billion Qatari riyals, or 18.8% of the total value of merchandise imports, then the United States of America with a value of 1.1 billion Qatari riyals, i.e. It accounted for 11.2%, followed by Germany with a value of 0.7 billion Qatari riyals, or 7.2%.
