19.6 billion riyals, the trade balance surplus of the State of Qatar in July 2023


The Planning and Statistics Authority issued its preliminary report on foreign trade statistics for the month of July 2023. The report includes data on exports (of local origin and re-exports) and imports. The following is a brief presentation of the data:
During July 2023, the value of total Qatari exports (which include exports of local origin and re-exports) amounted to approximately 29.1 billion Qatari riyals, a decrease of 34.4% compared to data for July 2022, and an increase of 8.4% compared to June 2023.
On the other hand, the value of merchandise imports increased during July 2023, reaching about 9.4 billion Qatari riyals, a decrease of 1.6% compared to data for July 2022, and an increase of 0.2% compared to June 2023.
In light of this, the merchandise trade balance, which represents the difference between total exports and imports during the month of July 2023, achieved a surplus of 19.6 billion Qatari riyals, recording a decrease of 15.1 billion Qatari riyals, i.e. 43.5% compared to data for the same month of the previous year 2022, and an increase of Approximately 2.2 billion Qatari riyals, or 12.8% compared to June 2023.
In comparison between July 2023 and data for July 2022, the value of exports of "oil gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons", which represent (liquefied natural gas, condensate, propane, butane, etc..) decreased to about 17.0 billion Qatari riyals, or by 44.4%, and the value of "Petroleum Oil and oils obtained from bituminous mineral raw materials” decreased to reach approximately 5.4 billion Qatari riyals, or 10.6%, and the value of exports of “oil oils and oils obtained from non-crude bituminous mineral materials” decreased, to reach about 2.8 billion Qatari riyals, or 5.0%.
 
In terms of exports according to the main destination countries, China ranked first among the destination countries for Qatar’s exports during July 2023, with a value of approximately 6.0 billion Qatari riyals, or 20.7% of the total value of Qatari exports, followed by South Korea, with a value of approximately 4.1 billion Qatari riyals, or It represents 14.2% of the total value of exports, then India, with a value of approximately 2.8 billion Qatari riyals, or 9.6%.
Comparing the month of July 2023 with the data for July 2022, the group “Jet turbines, propellant turbines, other gas turbines and their parts” came at the top of the list of merchandise imports, with a value of 0.8 billion Qatari riyals, an increase of 4.7%, followed by the group “Cars and other designed motor vehicles.” Mainly for transporting people", with a value of approximately 0.29 billion Qatari riyals, a decrease of 9.3%, and a group of "electrical equipment for telephone (telephone) or wired telegraph, including network transmitting devices, and their parts” with a value of 0.28 billion Qatari riyals, a decrease of 13.4%. .
In terms of imports according to the main countries of origin, China ranked first among the countries of origin for imports from the State of Qatar during the month of July 2023, with a value of approximately 1.6 billion Qatari riyals, or 16.7% of the total value of merchandise imports, then the United States of America, with a value of 1.4 billion Qatari riyals, or 14.3%. %, followed by Germany with a value of 0.6 billion Qatari riyals, or 6.7%.
